Canelo vs. Chavez fight is on! Two of most popular active boxers in Mexico, Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will square off in a long-anticipated boxing match on May 6, 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The scheduled 12-round super-fight, which will headline an HBO PPV card on the Mexican holiday weekend of Cinco de Mayo – a traditional weekend for major Mexican fights.

Seats for the Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. are incredible selling so hot in leading ticketing outlets. As of writing, Canelo-Chavez tickets are almost sold-out and fans are highly suggested to buy early for this big boxing event.

Canelo Alvarez, the former middleweight world champion, and Chavez, who also once held a world title at 160 pounds, will meet at a catchweight of 164.5 pounds.

The Canelo vs. Chavez Jr fight is perceived a ‘business fight’ by many fans rather than a match involved for sporting purposes. Indeed, Canelo (48-1-1, 34 KOs) is moving up 2 divisions to face Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) at a catch-weight of 164 ½ pounds in the super middleweight division.

The undercard of the Canelo-Chavez Jr. is pretty sparse right now with former light welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 34 KOs) fighting Emanuel Taylor (20-4, 14 Kos) being the only other fight on the PPV side. Matthysse-Taylor is not really a PPV worthy fight. Taylor has been getting beaten a lot lately, and Matthysse is coming off of a 10th round knockout loss to Viktor Postol over a year ago.
