Mayweather calls Pacquiao’s career over
- Updated: July 5, 2013
Controversial and undisputed pound for pound fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is buzzing again after delivering another hard-hitting rebuke against Philippine’s fighting pride Manny Pacquiao when some fans mentioned the Filipino’s name during the American boxer’s media US tour together with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez promoting their THE ONE: Mayweather vs Canelo September 14th dream super-fight.
Fight Hype posted a video in Youtube where Mayweather was addressing the crowd in San Antonio, Texas, the second to the last stop of his press tour for his September 14 bout, when a fan shouted, “Fight Pacquiao!”
“Pacquiao’s a has-been. His career is over,” was the quick retort of the controversial boxer who has repeatedly avoided the celebrated Filipino boxer in the past four years.
Mayweather then praised the fighter that recently conquered Pacquiao in the squared circle.
“[Juan] Manuel Marquez is a legend. I commend him,” he said.
Mayweather has agreed to defend his junior middleweight title against Alvarez, to “give fans the fight that they want.”
Ironically, Mayweather demanded it to take place at a 152-pound catchweight despite thrashing Pacquiao in the past for asking catchweight fights.
“When Floyd Mayweather is going into that ring, for 44 fights… I always worry about the fans because I worry about putting on a good show for the fans,” said the undefeated fighter.
